military birthday card

This morning the hubby walks into the apartment saying his boss would like a military birthday card, which just happens to be going to a lovely lady who donates a lot of money to the school. No pressure or anything.

I know I wanted to use the school colors which are red and gold and make it a little bigger then a normal card.

So before my walk I pulled out a few of the items, to hopefully come up with a sketch in my head for this card. It came out pretty close to what I thought it would look like.

I love this old retired stamp set from Stampin’ Up! it is called “For Your Country”. The images are so cool, combat boots, dog tags and some other cool military images. There are certain stamp sets that I will not get rid of and this is one of them.

The card base is thick whisper white card stock, then layered with gold foil paper, basic black and real red card stock are the top two layers. Everything on this card is retired except the card stock. But it really does pay to have a well stocked craft room. Are you a hoarder or a collector? I would say I’m a collector, I don’t keep everything, but I keep somethings!

Inside:

On the inside of the card I have also heat embossed an Eagle, Globe and Anchor just like the front. The gold embossing powder is current product in the annual Stampin’ Up! catalog. Heat embossing is one of my favorite techniques. My husband watched me do this step and he said “it’s like magic”. It really does make your project pop!

Envelope Detail

Crisp shiny envelope

I heat embossed the envelope with a full Marine Eagle, Globe and Anchor!! It is a stamp I bought years ago. Sometimes it comes out a little wonky, user error, maybe. But each time I used it today it was a super crisp stamped image.

I hope you like the card,

I am here for you in your paper crafting journey!!
